Brown Brothers Wine & Food Festival

BROWN BROTHERS WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL GOES TOTALLY WILD
20 - 21 November 2010
Brown Brothers at Milawa (NE Victoria) salutes the flavours of the wild with the signature event of this year's Wine & Food Festival, 'The Wild Harvest Dinner'. Four top chefs will fly to Flinders Island, on a hunting expedition to source wild produce. They will then return to the Brown Brothers Epicurean Centre kitchen to cook their catch with NE Victoria's finest produce. The 5-course menu ($185pp) will be perfectly matched to Brown Brothers wines, as part of a weekend celebration of all things epicurean.
Apprentices together 16 years ago under Guy Grossi, the four-chef team led by Danny Neate (Head Chef, Brown Brothers), includes well-known Melbourne chefs, Frank Camorra and Martin Beck (Movida), Matthew Germanchis (Pandora's Box) The Wild Harvest Dinner will see them reunited in the kitchen, sharing their passion for wild flavours and fresh regional produce.
Part owner of the Royal Mail on Spencer, Peter Moore is also coming along on the journey. "Peter is a pilot and a long term visitor to Flinders Island so he seemed like the perfect choice' said Danny Neate..
Bursting with spring colours, the Brown Brothers Milawa vineyard, sets the scene for an inspirational wine and food experience over the festival weekend. Highlights include guided tastings of new release and award winning wines, seasonal produce-based dishes by Brown Brothers Head Chef and local restaurants, a regional farmers market, fun activities and live music.
Aspiring 'Masterchefs' can pick up some tips from the experts at the 'Chef's Table'. Another first for the Festival, these forums are about sitting, tasting and questioning, in a fun, informal setting.
Another Festival favourite, the Lucky Sip' competition returns this November. Participants can test their palates on Brown Brothers varietals and win some great prizes, by identifying wine varieties using, taste, sight and smell.
Trixie the Clown will be on hand to entertain the kids, all day every day, with her exciting blend of face painting, magic and balloon art.
Brown Brothers Milawa Vineyard gates will be flung open at 10am and wine by the glass or bottle, can be purchased to enjoy in the grounds. For further information please call 1800 032 248 or go to www.brownbrothers.com.au
